Beyond Software: Transforming Hardware Organizations

The Digital Age has enabled organizations in many industries and now impacts those building large, hardware-inclusive systems, putting pressure on their traditional approaches to design and manufacturing. Transforming these organizations to Lean-Agile and SAFe ways of working is challenging. While the principles still apply, leaders and practitioners in these domains need help to connect them to their current engineering practices.

This workshop enables SPCs, SPCTs, and other change agents to transform organizations in these industries. We will present new material on how Lean-Agile and SAFe practices apply to developing large hardware systems and discuss how to deliver this content to hardware leaders and practitioners. You will learn how to:

SAFe For Government

Please join us for a day devoted purely to Agile work in government settings.

  • Workshop (Morning)  SAFe for Government: Roles & Responsibilities. Bureaucratic processes and rigid regulations often hinder the flexibility required for an Agile way of working. Gaining clarity in roles and responsibilities helps to bridge the gap between traditional methods and their Agile counterparts – and results in smoother procurement processes, better team alignment, fruitful public-private relationships, and well-defined goals. You will first complete a self-paced e-learning that clarifies SAFe roles in teams, Agile Release Trains (ARTs), and organizational leadership. You’ll then be guided through facilitated hands-on exercises to help translate the roles and practices of SAFe to your unique government context and mission.
  • Voice of Government (Afternoon).  The interactive session is a valuable opportunity for government professionals to connect with SAFe experts and peers. Led by Chief Methodologist Andy Sales, let’s explore the latest developments in SAFe and its relevance to government agencies. Participants will engage in an interactive discussion to:
    • Share insights on gaps between SAFe and government needs
    • Provide feedback on future directions
    • Contribute ideas to shape SAFe’s roadmap

This collaborative dialogue aims to ensure SAFe remains effective and aligned with the unique challenges faced by federal, international, state, and local government agencies. By participating, attendees can directly influence the evolution of SAFe to better serve the public sector
